Oenops Wines is a négociant project spearheaded by Nikos Karatzas who sources indigenous grapes and turns them into a range of wines worth seeking out. This is a blend of Xinomavro and Limniona, and its aromas flit between ripe juicy cherry and earth and dried herbs. It might be a divisive wine – there's a rusticity here not all will appreciate, showing freshly turned earth, wet leaves, barnyard and some grainy tannins, despite the fairly light body. But the berry fruit pops and bursts in the mouth and it’s a characterful, lively wine. This would be really good with some lamb koftas and could even take a light chill. Member price £10.99.
