Royal Tokaji, Betsek Dry Furmint, Tokaji, Tokaj, Hungary, 2017

Betsek is one of the bigger single vineyards in Tokaj, featuring dark clay soil and chalk minerals. Aged in 25-30% new oak barrels, this 100% Furmint gives a mineral and ripe citrus fruit on the nose, decorated with earthy, honeysuckle complexity and hints of vanilla. Fresh acidity jumps out on the palate, wrapped by layers of citrus peel bitterness, ripe apple and vanilla flavours, followed by a full-on, honeyed finish.
