Royal Tokaji, Dry Tokaji, Tokaji, Hungary, 2015

Hungarian Tokaji is famous for its incredible sweet wines, made primarily from the Furmint variety. This bone dry style is also made from Furmint, but is a completely different proposition. Waxy green apple, hazelnut and sweet spice aromas lead into a palate of baked apple and background notes of cream. There is an incredibly refreshing, almost tart, acidity and delightful pink grapefruit notes on the finish.

A Majestic exclusive, this is made mainly from the Furmint grape, which is famous for producing Tokaj's stunning dessert wines. Dry Tokaji is a great style to pair with mild Asian dishes - this one has gorgeous fleshy stone fruit aromas, a structure that makes it supremely food-friendly and a good length. Quite a showy wine, but in perfect balance.
