Royal Tokaji, Mézes Mály Dry Furmint, Tokaji, Tokaj, Hungary, 2017

The ‘grand cru’ vineyard Mézes Mály sits on the top of Tokaj hill, with more sandy soil rather than clay. Compared to the rest of the producer’s dry Furmint range, the Mezes Maly version presents a more restraint and mineral nose, with lime and green apple fruits and floral notes. Fresh and pure on the palate, the piercing acidity is the backbone, while the citrus and green apple flavours provide the flesh, long and elegant.
