Light hints of coffee bean and dried red fruits on the nose are followed on the palate by big alcohol, typical of this grape variety when grown in the heel of Italy. But the alcohol is balanced neatly by raspberry-laced acidity and bold flavours of rich, tangy red fruits, wood, spice and some vanilla. Best with food - think grilled lamb or lasagne.
