Spar, Primitivo, Puglia, Italy, 2016

This Italian Primitivo is lovely and delicate, although it trades freshness for 9.5g/l of residual sugar. It has flavours of sweet red cherry and dried fruits with a touch of violets. It's reminiscent of a Valpolicella Ripasso in some respects, although lacks the rich texture, however this is a lovely red for drinking with friends - try it with a homemade pizza topped with cured meats.
