Planeta, I'Amistanza Fiano Grecanico, Sicily, Italy, 2021

L'Amistanza is the Italian Renaissance word for friendship, and this breezy summer white made from two indigenous Italian grape varieties would go down a treat with friends, over a meal or on its own. Planeta is a big name in Sicilian wine, with vineyards located in five different viticultural areas around the island. This is an unoaked 50/50 blend of Fiano with Grecanico (the latter closely related to the Garganega grape used in Soave). Fresh and lively, with a good energy, this displays lifted juicy stone fruit flavours, white flowers and a hint of almond. A thoroughly modern white.
