What makes this a great summer wine also enables it to shine with richer food in the winter months – a clean, vibrant acidity cuts through pretty much anything, while the softer, gently aromatic flavours sit well alongside a variety of foods. On the nose there is a touch of almond with gentle summertime notes. Good intensity on the palate, with a nutty base overlaid with citrus, pear and mandarin. I recently tasted the 2014 vintage and it showed an evolution towards a more honeyed and aromatically complex wine. This is definitely a wine that can age gracefully. Flexible, affordable and ageable – what’s not to like?
