Erste & Neue, Lagrein, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy, 2013

With less than 500ha planted in Alto Adige and probably the world, this ancient local grape variety, Lagrein, is hard to find. This is a very dry style, opening up with black cherry, earthy notes and black pepper. A little rustic, it is tannic and acidic with an electric energy in the mouth making it ideal with food. Decant 30 minutes before serving.
