Kellerei Kurtatsch, Schiava Sonntaler, 2018

The Schiava grape is indigenous to Alto Adige and this characterful version is made from vines aged over 80 years. Fresh, lifted aromatics with a waft of cherry and blackberry are followed by a light and lively palate of crushed red berries and cherries, with surprising persistence on the finish. Ageing for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels adds a creamy texture. So quaffable.
