Riserva Chiantis are, by law, aged for longer in oak than their non-Riserva counterparts. To survive this process the fruit tends to be of higher quality in the first place. This example has a lovely aroma of cherry and wood, which evolves on the palate to reveal some plummy fullness, notes of tar and black pepper, and grippy tannins which will work best with food - ideally something tomato-based.
