The estate's Squarcialupi bottlings aim to express Sangiovese's character, with just 5% Colorino here. Aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, it has a faintly dusty aroma with underlying black cherry and raspberry jam touches, plus a waft of herbs. Juicy and intense, a rich mid-palate of blackberries, cherry, raspberry, lavender and rosemary is supported by slightly rustic but well integrated tannins and bright acidity. Well balanced on the long finish, with subtle coffee and chocolate notes.
