Martoccia di Brunelli Luca, Rosso di Montalcino, 2016

Luca Brunelli runs this 15ha family estate on the outskirts of Montalcino, producing a Brunello and this lovely Rosso. It's an excellent price for the quality, showing firm tannins and exotic spice from the nine months in Slavonian barrels and French barriques. This is fleshed out by ripe black cherry fruit and lifted by brisk acidity.
