Montemercurio, Petaso, Rosso di Montepulciano, Tuscany, 2017

Frost and drought produced very ripe grapes and low yields across much of Tuscany in 2017, hence the high alcohol. A two-pronged attack of acidity and alcohol settles to reveal flavours of macerated cherries, prosciutto, cedar, tobacco and dark chocolate.
