Lidl, Valpolicella, Ripasso Superiore, Veneto, Italy 2022

Ripasso is made by refermenting Valpolicella with used Amarone skins for additional texture and complexity. In this particular case, I'm not convinced it's worth trading up to the Amarone, which is about twice the price. Rich, perfumed aromas and flavours of dried black and red fruits are accompanied by chalky tannins and a shorter than average finish.
