Kelly Washington, Syrah, Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand 2022

This is a classy Syrah from New Zealand's Waiheke Island, made by talented winemaker Tamara Kelly-Washington. Her day job is making the wines at Seresin, and this is her personal project, working with her husband Simon. It's a juicy, quite polished wine with dark plum fruit, a meaty edge and some cedary oak influence. Spent a year in French oak barriques, 21% new.
