Steve Bird, The Whanau Reserve Pinot Gris, Marlborough, New Zealand 2023

Another demonstration by Majestic that there's more to New Zealand white than Sauvignon Blanc (also seek out the Saint Clair Albariño), this Pinot Gris impressed with its full, juicy stone fruit and spice flavour profile. It's a dry wine (only 3g/L residual sugar), with no oak influence, but there is some lees contact to add a certain creaminess of texture and weight.
