Spencer Hill, Reserve Fumé Sauvignon Blanc, Nelson, 2013

Spencer Hill owns vineyards located in the Upper Moutere Hills and along the Coastal Ridge area of Tasman Bay, about three kilometres from Nelson. An oaked Sauvignon, the nose is surprisingly fresh with pea and nettle aromas. The wood becomes evident on the palate, lending a building intensity of black pepper, cream and wood astringency which marries well with the pea, mint and asparagus flavours of the fruit. A slightly warming vanilla note appears on the finish.
