Kopke, Winemaker's Collection Folgazão & Rabigato, 2016

From vineyards in Baixo Corgo, this limited-edition white is a blend of native Portuguese varieties Folgazão and Rabigato. Aged for four years in French oak before release, it's got plenty of power and will likely become more refined after a few more years in bottle. Vibrant aromatics, layered with creamy citrus, stone fruit and toasty oak notes. Very textured; an oily creaminess is countered by brisk acidity and a lip-smacking finish. An offbeat option for lovers of big oaked Chardonnays.
