Lidl, Entre Quintas, Douro Valley, Portugal, 2019

This red stood out in the Winter Wine Tour selection that we tasted. A blend of grapes traditionally used for Port (Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz), the wine spent 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. It's deep in colour, hinting at the depth of dark plummy fruit. Fragrant and full bodied, there's a lovely earthiness here to balance the ripe fruit, and good tannic structure. Really rather nice.
