This is higher in alcohol than the previous vintage of this wine, but it manages to retain its fresh fruit character - by no means guaranteed in a region which can be fiercely hot in summer. It's unoaked, so fruit is to the fore here – ripe blackberry and plum flavours, with a violet fragrance and a touch of spice. A great-value table wine from the region that is most famous for its Ports.
