Tesco, Finest, Port, Douro Valley, Portugal, 2013

2013 wasn't one of the best years for Port in the 2010s, but don't let that deter you from snapping up this fantastic and bargainous vintage bottling, made for Tesco by Symington Family Estates. It's drinking beautifully now, so no need to cellar it, fairly restrained on the nose, but then bursting forth with full black cherry, currant and cocoa warmth, and distinct peppery notes keeping it lively and fresh. What a treat.
