Boschendal, Grande Cuvée Brut, Elgin, South Africa 2012

Boschendal does not make this vintage wine every year and, unusually, all the fruit is sourced from Elgin. Evolution is apparent in its golden colour, while the subtle nose displays notions of lemon tart; creamy and bright at once. The palate reprises the lemon tart theme, uniting zestiness with a rich edge that is not quite toasty but very biscuity with a most elegant mousse. Lightness, balance and depth of flavour.
