Iona, Chardonnay, Elgin, South Africa, 2019

The vineyards that were the source for this classy Chardonnay lie in the Elgin highlands, a stone's throw from the ocean. The combination of altitude and maritime influence help to produce an elegant cool-climate style, with lemon and lime citrus fruit, and some marked bready, creamy, yeasty notes from the malolactic fermentation and lees ageing. Spends almost a year in French oak barrels and a further three months in tank before bottling.
