Drinking Window: 2016 - 2018
Ashbourne, made since 2001, has traditionally been held back for five years before release so this and the 2010 are the current wines in the market. Poor years have meant the next vintage will be the 2015, released in 2017, and unlike previous incarnations which have been blended with up to 15% of Bordeaux varieties, it will be a single-vineyard Pinotage. Perfumed and classy, it's loaded with tertiary notes of leather, rust, bonfire and hedgerow, along with tart red berries. Firm but still fresh.
