Ataraxia, Serenity, Walker Bay, South Africa, 2009

Kevin Grant makes some of the Cape’s finest Chardonnays, but this wine (and an upcoming Pinot Noir) shows his magic with reds too. The blend here is not revealed, but Syrah is dominant. Damsons and spice lead some lifted herbal notes and mocha oak. Serene indeed.
