Springfontein, Terroir Selection Pinotage, Walker Bay, 2016

An uncharacteristically elegant Pinotage, made with hand-harvested grapes and wild yeasts, then matured in second- and third-fill French, American and Hungarian oak. Enticing aromas of subtle black fruit edged with a smoky bacon savouriness. Lifted black and red berry fruit on the palate; the ripe blackberry core is wrapped in spicy, leathery notes, with a deep, fruity finish: blackcurrant fruit pastilles dusted with spice.
