Lidl, Taming the Tiger Pinotage, Western Cape, South Africa 2019

The name is a witty reference to the fact that South Africa's signature red grape, Pinotage, is notoriously brash in character – it's a Marmite grape, for sure. Here it has indeed been tamed, and has produced a toasty, supple and easy-drinking wine with bright red fruit. It's fairly rustic in style, but it won't offend.
