A step up from Waitrose's Blueprint South African Chenin Blanc, and made by Cederberg Private Cellar, this offers more interest and complexity. Grapes are hand harvested and given a little skin contact before pressing. A portion of the juice is fermented in used, large oak barrels for four months, and the wine is aged on fine lees in stainless steel for four months with monthly batonnage before bottling. Pale green gold in colour, and bold in its juicy, tropical fruit aromas – honeydew melon and stone fruit, with almost a salty lick. Clean and refreshing, this would be a great match for roast chicken or fish and chips. Profits support community projects in Cederberg's local area.
