Valdaya, Mirum, Ribera del Duero, Castilla y Léon, 2014

Only the second vintage for this estate, and things are already looking good. This is their flagship wine, made from five separate plots with vine ages of between 50 and 80+ years. The black forest gateau nose has a medical plaster note. On the palate there is a pure black cherry character and a subtle spiciness, followed by dark chocolate and a note of mint. It has good length and balance and is a delicious wine for drinking now.
