Venus La Universal, Dido La Solució Rosa, Montsant, Spain 2019

This able-bodied rosé is the product of husband and wife team René Barbier of Mas Martinet and Sara Pérez of Clos Mogador, origins that point only in one direction - greatness. The grapes come from a few different families in Montsant, who farm organically. This blend of red and white varieties - Grenaches noir, blanc and gris, Macabeo, Cariñena and Ull de Llebre - are co-fermented and then aged in large foudres. Structured and serious, it has a savoury, earthy complexity underneath the grilled peach and orange rind. Wild thyme and lavender, with vibrant and juicy redcurrant fruit and succulent acidity. A rosé to unwind and tease out of its shell.
