Contino, Garnacha, Rioja 2019

Garnacha specialist Jorge Navascués, who took over winemaking at Contino in 2017, has left his mark with this red, which displays herbal, sarsaparilla and kirsch aromas. There is full ripeness here – as might be expected from this beautiful property, rich in alluvial soils stretching along a meander of the Ebro River just 10 minutes’ drive from Logroño. Yet the palate is subtle and round, with a lovely floral character. A beautiful expression of Garnacha.
