Codorníu, Raventós Selección de la Familia Reserva, Cava, Penedès, Spain 2020

This new addition to Waitrose's Cava offering is made by the reliable Codorniu brand, a blend of 50% Champagne grape Chardonnay from Codorníu's own vineyards in Lleida with Spanish grapes Macabeo and Xarel-lo from the hotter Penedès area. The wine spent 18 months on lees before disgorgement, and was bottled with an 11g/L dosage. It's a good value fizz, with some attractive, slightly evolved nutty and toasty notes, and soft, creamy green apple and stone fruit.
