Bodega Bideona, Lasai Single Vineyard El Ciego, Rioja, Spain 2021

Majestic's buyers are very good at sniffing out small parcels of interesting wines, here from Bodega Bideona, an estate in Rioja Alavesa which cultivates more than 300 parcels with an average vine age of 50 years old. The 2021 vintage was scored 4/5 by Decanter's Spanish expert Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW, and there's certainly much to enjoy in this 100% Tempranillo bottling, aged for 16 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Softly juicy with forest fruit notes, a good purity and subtle, well-integrated oak. Easy drinking, with an appealing freshness. Mix-six price: £14.99.
