El Coto, El Duque de Miralta Crianza, Rioja, Spain 2019

M&S's Spanish reds seem to either be simple and dilute or have lashings of excessive oak. This one, from El Coto, is the most balanced and drinkable, with the toasted coconut and sweet vanilla notes from 12 months in American oak evident but in a supporting role rather than overwhelming the ripe strawberry fruit.
