Sevilen, Plato Kalecik Karasi, Turkey, 2013

Sevilen is a big company by Turkish standards, producing 10 million bottles a year across many lines and price points. Kalecik Karasi (KK for short) is its key red variety, showing similarities to Pinot Noir with its light body and bright autumnal and bakewell tart-like notes. KK tends to have more structure than Pinot, however, which has been bolstered here by 10 months in French barriques that lend textural tannins from the oak.
