Sourced from the producer's 4.6ha Upper Levels vineyard, the 'Inversion' Blanc de Noirs was created in 2020, when Black Chalk completed its winery. It features toasty citrus with touches of red cherry on the nose. The vibrant acidity (7.8g/l) is rounded off by 6.3g/l residual sugar. There is good tension and smooth texture on the mid-palate; spicy roasted hazelnuts and marzipan linger on a long finish. The base wine was bottled without malolactic fermentation, followed by 26 months on lees. Only 1,939 bottles were made.
