This wine, a blend of 95% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier, comes from vines grown in sandstone soils at Bolney's Sussex estate. It has a beautiful nose of lemon meringue and summer berries, with hints of savoury mushroom and nougat too. In the mouth there's a bretty, spicy complexity that invigorates the plush stone fruit, lemon and baked apple flavours. The acidity is relatively soft for an English sparkler, and well-integrated. It seems fairly evolved already, making it a great choice for drinking over the next two or three years, although I'm sure it will last longer.
