This new addition to Lidl's core Deluxe wine range capitalises on the popularity of English sparkling wine in recent years – it would be difficult to find a supermarket wine shelf without at least one on offer. But they don't usually come this cheap: at just under £14.99, this is extremely competitively priced. This blend of the three main Champagne grapes (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier) is golden in colour, rich and creamy. If you like your Champagne and sparkling wine mellow and opulent rather than fresh and crisp, this one's for you: brioche and biscuit, toffee and caramel characters, in an evolved style.
