The Chardonnay grapes used to make this wine are mainly sourced from the Crouch Valley, Essex. Aged in a mixture of tank and French barrels (new and old), it's flinty and savoury on the nose, with nectarine and canned peach, seasoned with vanilla pods. Extended ageing on lees plus some bâtonnage gives the wine a buttered and spiced tone over more canned white fruit notes, with crisp lemon acidity (6.2 g/l) to balance. Buttered yellow fruits and umami last till the finish.
