Thirty-four years after the harvest, this 1988 Cabernet is remarkably fresh, youthfully exuberant, and vibrant, with terrific depth and aromatic intensity for its age. It leads with a potpourri of dried herbs, pyrazines, black olive, and rich earth, resolving into black currants and picking up steam on the palate. Medium to full-bodied, with building, firm, and structured tannins. It keeps giving, mingling deep-turned earth with blood orange acidity and muddled blackberry and blueberry fruit. Totally mesmerising.
