Lakewood Vineyards, Bubbly Catawba, Finger Lakes, New York, USA 2022

The producers of this wine describe it as ‘fun and fruity’, but the history of American sparkling wine begins with this native variety, Catawba. Vineyards planted in 1813 in Ohio came to produce some of the top-quality wines in the country at the time. This one has a gentle spritz with aromas of raspberry candies, sweet allspice and clove. The palate offers more of the same sweet cherry Jolly Rancher and allspice, and it finishes with a candied cherry note.
