Kiona, Lemberger, Red Mountain, Washington, USA, 2021

The unofficial wine ambassador for those new to Red Mountain is Kiona's Lemberger. Sourced from vines planted in 1976, 1986, 97 and 2000, comprising just over 5ha. The brighter elements of Lemberger are coloured with a darker hue, given those serious Red Mountain tannins. Bright cranberry notes buoy the savoury aromatics of sumac, rosehips and crushed basalt. Flavours of blood orange, tangy blackberries and Montmorency cherry make this wine decidedly drinkable.
