History:
Wine has been made on the estate’s prestigious plateau soils as far back as the Middle Ages, when local monks cultivated the vines. During the 17th century, the land was owned by the Gerès family, and later their heirs, the de Carles. In 1869, the property was divided to form Château Beauséjour-Duffau-Lagarrosse (the present-day Château Beauséjour) and what became known as Château Beauséjour-Dr-Fagouet after its new owner. In 1969, the estate was sold to Michel Bécot, who not only re-christened it, but also initiated extensive modernisation. His children Gérard, Dominique and Juliette run Beau-Séjour Bécot today.
