History:

With only a handful of different families owning this prestigious Barsac estate Château Climens has had a long but stable history. The Roborels owned it from 1547 to 1802, when they were removed by events set in motion by the Revolution. Eloi Lacoste owned the property in 1855 when it received its 1er Cru classification, and he also managed to save the vineyards from the phylloxera epidemic which affected many of the estates in the region. The property was sold to the Gounouilhou family in 1880 and then to Lucien Lurton in 1971, the family name under which the property remains today.
