History:

While family Dumirat began to bring Château de Myrat into prominence early in the 19th century the Château’s history goes back to the previous century, though frequent changes of ownership have obscured the timeline. The Dumirats torch is today borne by the Pontac family (since 1937). Considerable replanting took place (first in 1945) but Comte Maximimilien de Pontac continued to seek improvement – eventually pulling up all the vines. He died in 1988, leaving sons Jacques and Xavier to run the estate – and completely replant.
