Vineyards:Sémillon 74%, Sauvignon Blanc 24%, Muscadelle 2%

History:

Originally owned by Etienne du Vigneau, the estate achieved 1855 classification under the management of the widow of the next owner, Baron de Reyne. She also succeeded in getting the 1861 vintage ranked highest in Sauternes, overcoming neighbouring Yquem in the Paris Fair tastings of 1867. The estate remained in the family until 1961 when a difficult Sauternes market saw its sale to first Georges Raoux and then Cordier Mestrazet ten years later. The latter’s investment clout, and the direction of Jacques Merlaut, has been seen to reinvigorate the property.
