History:
Château Filhot, now reminiscent of English shires elegance, was probably already
yielding wines (though known then as Maison Noble de Verdoulet) when the Filhot family acquired it as the 18th century dawned. The family head in fact lost his own head – to the guillotine following the Revolution, though after a time the Filhots regained occupation. Through marriage, control shifted to the Lur-Saluces family – it was Romain-Bertrand de Lur-Saluces who in 1845 rebuilt the château and added the handsome park – with further family and marital dealings landing it today under the control of Count Henri de Vaucelles.
