History:

The impressive château and buildings of Fonplégade were built in 1852 by Jean-Pierre Beylot. The estate was later owned by the Duke of Morny, step-brother to Napoleon III, and by the mid-1900s belonged to Armand Moueix. Today, following its sale to American magnate Stephen Adams and his wife Denise in 2004, it is the flagship property in the Adams French Vineyards porfolio. The Château’s vineyards occupy steep slopes on the south side of Saint-Emilion’s limestone plateau.
