History:

Latour Martillac gets its name from the 12th century tower that stands at its gateway, all that remains of a 12th century fortified castle. The Château’s hectares were once attached to the noble house of La Brède – the birthplace of the 17th century political thinker Montesquieu – but it owes its success to German wine merchant Edouard Kressmann. After many years involvement in helping to perfect the production of his favourite wine, he and his son Alfred bought the estate in 1929. Latour Martillac is now managed by great-grandsons Tristan and Loïc Kressmann.
